Wealth, Acorns and Entrepreneurship

My Rant:-)

Today I want to talk to you about wealth, acorns and entrepreneurship. About the accumulation of wealth and being the most successful person you can be. That is why we do what we do. To increase our sales and make more money. And to become a better person.

I hope to inspire you with a few short stories.

First of all, I hope you’re not thinking something ridiculous like,

“Money is the root of all evil” or “I’m not in it for the money”.

We live in a society based on money. If you want to eat, it takes money. If you want heat in the winter, you have to pay for it. If you want a roof over your head, more money. But what about life beyond the basics? Would you like to have a truckload of gold to help fund cancer research? Maybe you would like to give more to your church, or help someone pay for college, or provide a job for someone who just needs a break. It all takes money. Cash is King, I mean Queen!

And, there is plenty for everyone. We can all be rich. Just by being an American, you are already richer than most of the world and your opportunities are almost endless. You don’t have to be mean to become wealthy. You don’t have to lie or cheat or steal either. Rich people are generous. According to Forbes, Warren Buffet has given away over $48 billion dollars to charity. Barrons reported that the top 25 donors in the US gave $27 billion to charity in 2022 alone.

And guess what? Entrepreneurship is the perfect platform for greatness. The perfect path to success. According to wealth coach Brian Tracy, “80% of self-made millionaires are entrepreneurs or sales people. Most of the wealthiest multi-billionaires in the US started with nothing, zero, zip. Starting and building your own business is and always has been the high road to wealth in this great country of ours. And BUYING A BUSINESS is even better!

You won’t get rich saving a few dollars a week and passing on your favorite latte. Wealth comes from the creation of a product, being a producer and making massive sales.

Mary Kay is a well know business woman.

But do you have any knowledge of her childhood, her upbringing? Do you have a six-year-old child or grandchild? Because when Mary Kay was six, she was managing their household and caring for her ill father. He had become an invalid when he was struck with tuberculosis. Her mother stepped onto the role of breadwinner and was working 14-hour days to support the family. Mary Kay learned many lessons during this time, one of which was independence. She says, “For instance, if I needed new clothing, I had to go by myself to downtown Houston. I took these Saturday trips alone, because my best friend was not allowed to travel on the streetcar without an adult. After all, we were just seven years old.”

Later in life, Mary Kay became the sole provider for her and her own three children when her husband divorced her upon his return from WWII. World War II era, a single mom with three children. But she did it. She became wildly successful. Not only in terms of finances, but in the way she has impacted people’s lives.

In the year 2000, one year before her death, her company’s revenues reached $1.3 billion.

If you want to talk about a smart cookie, let’s talk about Debbi Fields. Her dad was a welder. Her mom was a housewife. She was the youngest of five girls. Can you say hand-me down-city? Yet she went on to become one of the most successful cookie companies ever. She wrote the first cookbook to ever make it to the New York Times best sellers list. Her company became a Harvard case study on business efficiency.

Dolly Parton is still rockin’ it.

She was raised on a run-down tobacco farm. In a one room cabin. With eleven brothers and sisters. Can anyone in this room honestly say they had it worse off as a kid?

But she has experienced a great variety of success as a songwriter, singer, television actor, film star, and then you have Dolly Parton Enterprises and Dollywood.

These were all simple ideas; makeup, cookies, singing. Simple ideas, served with a giant side of Wow.

You probably know the story of the little acorn. Inside that hard brown shell, lies a perfect oak tree. It doesn’t wonder if it’s good enough, or if it will grow right. It doesn’t doubt whether it will really become an oak tree or not. It simply does what it was meant to do. When the circumstances are right; a bit of sun, fresh rainwater, and fertile soil, the shell cracks open and the baby oak sprouts out and reaches for the sky.

You are the acorn. Under the right circumstances; perseverance, continual learning, and right action, you too can reach for the sky, reach for your own zenith. You are already perfect. You were born that way. There should be no doubt about your potential for greatness.

Actually, you have an advantage over the acorn. You have choice, and heart and soul. Regardless of your circumstances, your upbringing, or your bank account, you can choose the direction and the magnitude of your success. It’s all up to you. And it’s never too late. The best time to start may have been last week, or last year, but the next best time to start is now. Right now!

But here’s what I’m getting at…

I want to be wealthy. I want to be rich. I keep wanting to say “filthy rich”, but filthy isn’t a positive word and I try to be careful with my words. I want to create jobs, and clean up neighborhoods. I want to get moms off welfare, to help them show their children a different path. I want to be healthy and fit. I used to have this crazy idea where I have a program of entrepreneurship for single moms all over the country, like an ice cream stand. I would teach them how to be successful through small business ownership and their children would work in the business and see their own possibilities and see how hard Mom works and how important it is to be a good member of your community. I would travel all over the country to check on their progress and offer them trainings and support and I would run marathons in all these different cities. And no, I have never ran a marathon.

But it’s not just moms. I want to help everyone that is open to being successful, that has a strong prosperity consciousness and awareness. I’m on a mission to create 10,000 Women Acquisition Entrepreneurs, so we can have more time, more freedom and more money. Most importantly, and I mean this, I want each of us to get to our own next level. Our own highest point- whatever that may be. And I want to do it with a sense of adventure and comradery, and joy, smiling all the while because business is so much fun!

I am no Mary Kay. And I am no Dolly Parton, obvious reasons aside, but I am catching on. I'm learning, and progressing and reaching for my own zenith.

As a kid, we often went without phone service. We had food stamps and free cheese and we heated with wood we spent all summer cutting and hauling. I use to add up every item in my grocery cart because I had only a certain amount of cash for the week. It’s been several years, but I have had to search for dimes to buy gas. I used to get disconnect notices on my utilities about every other month. One year I could not buy a Christmas tree for my kids. I hung Christmas lights on the wall in the shape of a Christmas tree and let my girls draw ornaments on it, on the wall, with magic markers.

And I know you have all had your struggles as well. I’m right there with you. Except-- I’m doing something about it.

I study, and observe, and experiment. I listen to the experts and I take ACTION to implement their advice in my own business. I ask for opinions, and study and listen to how other successful people have done it. Did I mention I study and then take action?

Break it down. Consistent baby steps.

I’m looking for women who want more, even a little more. I am talking about those who want to be better, even just a little bit better. And not because I’m an expert at all aspects of business, but because I am enjoying this journey. Because I want to share information and experiences, I want to learn with you and from you.

If any part of this touched you today, then join me. Let’s create jobs, and provide strong backing to our favorite causes. Let’s turn our small businesses in to powerful assets, turn them into thriving, community minded, heart-driven money machines. Let’s systematize and streamline our operations. Let’s change at least our own world, if not THE world.

Let’s get wealthy!
